Artificial Intelligence Policy

Guidelines for Responsible AI Usage in Culture, Art, and Tourism: Jurnal Budaya, Seni, dan Pariwisata

For Authors

1. Ethical and Responsible Use

  • Authors are required to transparently disclose the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the research process, whether in data collection, analysis, or writing assistance. Proper attribution must be provided for any AI-generated content integrated into the manuscript.

  • Authors must comply with applicable privacy regulations and obtain informed consent if AI tools are used to process personal or sensitive data.

  • Authors bear full responsibility for identifying and mitigating potential biases within AI systems to ensure that research outcomes remain fair, valid, and objective.

  • All content produced with the assistance of AI must respect existing intellectual property and copyright laws.

2. AI in Research Methodology and Data Analysis

  • Authors are expected to critically evaluate the appropriateness of AI tools to ensure they align with research objectives, particularly regarding accuracy, reliability, and the tools' suitability for the fields of Culture, Art, and Tourism.

  • Results derived from AI assistance must be validated using standard research protocols to ensure scientific rigor and reproducibility.

  • The journal encourages the use of interpretable AI models (explainable AI) to support methodological clarity and foster a deeper understanding of the research findings.

3. Academic Integrity and Originality

  • Any assistance from AI must be acknowledged transparently in accordance with established academic citation standards.

  • Submitted manuscripts must represent the authors' original contributions, analytical thinking, and scientific creativity; they must not rely solely on content or formulations generated entirely by AI.

4. Transparency in Peer Review and Collaboration

  • Authors must disclose AI usage during the peer review process and when collaborating with co-authors or partners to maintain honest academic dialogue.

  • Collaborative research teams should establish clear agreements regarding the use of AI tools, data handling, and authorship attribution from the project's inception.

For Reviewers

Reviewers are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscripts under review. Uploading manuscripts into AI tools may violate confidentiality, proprietary rights, and data privacy, especially if the manuscript contains personally identifiable information. Reviewers are fully responsible for the entire content of the reviews they provide.

For Editors

Editors are required to treat manuscripts as confidential documents and are prohibited from uploading them into generative AI tools to prevent violations of privacy rights and document confidentiality.
